As a Category Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining a competitive and best-in-class supply chain within your defined area of responsibility. Your primary focus will be identifying, scoping, and capitalizing on improvement opportunities from a total cost of ownership perspective. You will deliver on key performance indicators such as quality, lead time, cost, cash flow, etc.

You will become a valuable member of a team with 3 Category Managers in Svenstrup Denmark and 2 Strategic Purchasers in Calais France led by the Head of Category Management. Areas of Responsibility and Collaborative Relationships:

  • Assume overall responsibility for defined categories and suppliers.
  • Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team to define, implement, and realize category strategies to support sourcing targets and company development.
  • Take charge of all commercial issues regarding sourcing, supply, and suppliers.
  • Ensure on-time delivery with the right quality and the best possible total cost from a secured and dynamic supply base.

Key Tasks:

  • Define and implement category strategies to achieve defined targets.
  • Lead and coordinate activities within the cross-functional category team to secure material supply and continuously improve supply performance in the total cost of ownership.
  • Negotiate buying conditions with suppliers, establish supply contracts, and maintain supply data in internal systems.
  • Take full responsibility for supplier performance and development in quality, delivery, cost, and relationship.
  • Analyze sourcing data and benchmark to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain a secure and dynamic supply base through effective supplier relationship management and new supplier selection.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on strategies and performance as requested by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Rich experience in category management or strategic sourcing from one or more international manufacturing companies. Cross-functional leading experience is a plus.
  • With an analytical mind, you are able to interpret and integrate information to create a sourcing strategy.
  • Motivated by creating solid partnerships, interested in people and team dynamics.
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to decide and initiate actions and to lead and supervise a team.
  • Positive, self-driven, and proactive.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel mainly in DK & EU, about 15-20 days yearly.
