References for your job search

Sociale medier

When you are in a recruitment process at Curia and you have been presented to the company, we will always ask for your job references. Your references will typically be one or more persons in your network who know you professionally. One of our consultants will contact your references with a view to clarify your profile and match it with the job that you are in the process for.

It is always a good idea to contact the people you wish to state as your references before the potential employer does. In this way, you ensure that they are prepared for the conversation, and you get the opportunity to ask them how they experience you personally and professionally.

It is important that you actively maintain the part of your network that you wish to use as your references. Depending on the position you are applying for, it can be a good idea to pick references that include both bosses, colleagues, co-workers, and external cooperation partners. At Curia, we recommend that you have a list of references going back at least 6 to 8 years if possible.

It is important to emphasize that references cannot be collected without your explicit consent. In other words, you must give your permission in order for the consultant or employer to seek out information about you.
